Meredith’s latest work, Seedpods, will be on exhibit at “Danger” on Bainbridge Island for the month of June. Reception at the First Friday Arts Walk on June 5th. Meredith’s functional work is featured at Danger throughout the year.
Wearing my art. Loving all the compliments I get on my vase necklaces. Yes, these tiny vases are thrown on the potter’s wheel, and yes, they are hollow (You could insert a tiny flower or succulent). This owl was created in memory of Josh Thompson, who left this world too early. Josh wore a similar tattoo on his arm, which I interpreted into a sculptural form. The owl is a fencepost finial, designed to dwell on a fencepost or deck railing. It has been an honor to be asked to create this piece.
Are you fortunate enough to love where you live? I know in my area the locals have a great deal of “Place Love”. What is more satisfying than a warm cup of coffee in the place you love, honoring the place you love? It’s the little things….
This Fencepost Finial was commissioned for my dear friend, in honor of her son. The vase features black birds taking flight as well as lyrics from the Beatles’ Black bird song are inscribed among the flower stems.
I have always loved the quote “Memory is so we can have roses in December.” In my world, Pottery brings brightness all year.
