The Fern Street Pottery Studio is a beautiful studio to work in, I am one lucky woman!
The Fern Street Pottery Studio
This owl was created in memory of Josh Thompson, who left this world too early. Josh wore a similar tattoo on his arm, which I interpreted into a sculptural form. The owl is a fencepost finial, designed to dwell on a fencepost or deck railing. It has been an honor to be asked to create this piece.
Are you fortunate enough to love where you live? I know in my area the locals have a great deal of “Place Love”. What is more satisfying than a warm cup of coffee in the place you love, honoring the place you love? It’s the little things….
This Fencepost Finial was commissioned for my dear friend, in honor of her son. The vase features black birds taking flight as well as lyrics from the Beatles’ Black bird song are inscribed among the flower stems.
I have always loved the quote “Memory is so we can have roses in December.” In my world, Pottery brings brightness all year.
Construction is progressing in the new Fern Street Pottery studio. The windows and french doors are south facing and will let in plenty of natural sunlight.
A little brightness in my pottery studio today.
I’m not sure which it tastier- the strawberries, sun-warmed and straight from the garden or the luscious green glaze on the colander.
Feeling centered. Sometimes all it takes to balance life out is a few hours in the studio (with the dogs snoring nearby, of course). Life is good here on Fern Street.
